As soon as she saw the above photo she jumped on the idea of sending in their wedding photo (taken at their wedding ten years ago this coming Valentine's Day) to be made into an oil painting to give Walt on Valentine's Day.
My brother-in-law, Walt, had a birthday recently which was celebrated at a family backyard picnic surrounded by his family and my own. As we were putting away the tables and chairs afterwards he laughingly confided that he now owned 14 neck ties, 4 wallets, and 6 sweaters...none of which he anticipated using any time soon.
It gave me the idea to tell my sister that it's about time she and the kids came up with a more original gift idea for her husband's next birthday or anniversary. I suggested she check out Paint Your Life, the premier online photo to painting art gallery site (http://www.paintyourlife.com) to check out their ideas for unique birthday or anniversary gifts.

As soon as she saw the above photo she jumped on the idea of sending in their wedding photo (taken at their wedding ten years ago this coming Valentine's Day) to be made into an oil painting to give Walt on Valentine's Day. She got out their wedding album and I helped her choose a good photo and scan it into her computer. She uploaded it to Paint Your Life, chose a size and frame, and ordered. Paint Your Life's portrait artists will now paint a 100% handmade oil portrait.
My sister couldn't get over the ease in which she could turn a photo into a painting and come up with a fantastic gift idea that was both unique and affordable.
Lucky Walt. He's going to love getting that portrait as a surprise on Valentine's Day.
Now, of course, I'm going to give him a good idea for a secret gift to give her...I think I've got a great digital photo of the two of them I snapped at the birthday picnic that would make a perfect watercolor....
